A veteran business and management professional, Fritz Gautschi is a graduate of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology and Harvard Business School. Now retired, Fritz Gautschi focuses on charity work with a number of organizations, including Paralyzed Veterans of America (PVA).
Established in 1946, PVA focuses on empowering paralyzed veterans so they can live enriched lives and build better futures following their military service. It operates a number of programs to support this goal, including an Adaptive Sports initiative that is highlighted by the group’s annual Bass Tours.
The tours, which consist of seven tournaments, each held over the course of two days, offer anglers the opportunity to compete with the help of partners who serve as coaches to help them select appropriate equipment, bait, and fishing locations.
Each tournament offers participants the opportunity to fish from the shore or a boat, depending on preference. On the first day of each tournament, the disabled participant competes individually, with the second day involving a group effort with the paired partner.
Cash prizes are awarded following each tournament and are distributed based on the weights of the five heaviest fish.
